Interstellar Polity
In the aftermath of the Conduit Collapse in 2331, the worlds surrounding the Hub system (Donar, Reuschle, Sigewif, Wellington & Wilhelmveldt) banded together in an alliance called the Hub Federation.
Fyodor Hauser, President of Hub, secured the cooperation and loyalty of several stranded national fleets to join his cause. He also had the power of tradition and history on his side: Hub had been the undisputed center of the Clement Sector since it’s discovery.
Fyodor worked hard to create a public perception of continuity and stability until “the current crisis has passed” as he liked to say. His steady determination and relentless cheerfulness helped prevent public panic after the Collapse. By the end of his first term as President of the Hub Federation (2442), the continued existence of the Federation was assured.
To date, no other worlds have joined the Federation. They had not been tied so tightly to Earth, having been (at least theoretically) independent colonies for almost a century. They were quite content to continue managing their own affairs. Others were certain the Collapse was a temporary problem, and argued that once the Conduit was restored, Earth governments would mandate a return to the previous political balance of power. After more than 100 years, most have abandoned that hope but see no reason to surrender their independence.
